LEGENDARY BOXING trainer Freddie Roach has called for UFC icon Georges St-Pierre to take on "big mouth" Conor McGregor for his farewell fight.

Roach has been part of St-Pierre’s camp since 2010, with the Hall of Fame boxing trainer working as one of GSP’s striking coaches.

St-Pierre has not fought since November 2018, when he defeated Brit Michael Bisping at UFC 217 to claim the middleweight title, becoming a two-weight champion.

Though it is still unclear whether the 37-year-old will ever fight in the octagon again, Roach told Below the Belt podcast  he wants a super-fight with McGregor as GSP’s swansong.

Roach also suggested a shot at lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is a target - with the possibility of becoming the UFC’s first ever three-weight champion.

Roach said: “I think one more. Just one. The Irish boy. He’s got a big mouth.

“We’ll make the weight. Georges is on a new diet, it’s doing really great.

“We wanted to prove that we could go up in the higher weight division, and we did that. Then Dana got mad that we dropped that title.

“We want to go the lower weight now and be a three-time world champion, three weight divisions.”

Roach has worked with legendary MMA fighters such as Anderson Silva, BJ Penn, Tito Ortiz and Andrei Arlovski as well as former welterweight king GSP.

However, Roach has only made one appearance as a cornerman in the UFC, when he guided St-Pierre to a third stoppage win against Bisping.

St-Pierre revealed the 58-year-old boxing legend instructed him to throw the left-hook, the punch that subsequently dropped Bisping before GSP finished the bout via submission.
